Nolan James is an original acoustic instrumental guitarist residing in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. At the age of 24 he has been playing guitar for over 10 years. His music has been his passion and primary focus for the majority of that time, and it shows. "Nolan James is a virtuoso who will challenge everything you thought you knew about how a guitar should sound. Tapping deeply into intense, cardiac rhythms and soaring melodies, he creates an orchestra of sound by deftly dancing with a living, breathing instrument that begs to be uncaged," says guitarist Nathan Shutes.
Currently, Nolan James is pursuing his musicial endeavours full time. Although he has hopes for releasing a full length album in the summer of 2010, his focus remains on live performance and acquiring as many performances as possible. His music is meant to be seen live. Recently, Nolan has been invited to play at a Veteran's Aid Concert on Memorial Day at the Fine Line Music Cafe in downtown Minneapolis. He has also recieved an invitation to play Tim Reede Custom Guitars (reedeguitars.com) at the 2010 Montreal Guitar Festival in July.
It has been only recently that Nolan has stepped out of the darkness into the Twin Cities music scene. Within just a few months the response to his musical style has been overwhelmingly positive. In that short time Mr. James has appeared twice on twincitiesradio.net for a live audio and video set. It is clear he is only moving forward. Nicholas Hensley from "Love Songs for Angry Men" proclaims, "Nolan James is a sleeping giant, I give this guy six months before he blows up all over the Twin Cities."
Complimenting his instrumental music, Nolan also holds a passion for writing and public speaking. His career is evolving to incorporate these mediums in a way that expresses the importance of life, love, and passion to the masses in a way that is not easily unnoticed or forgotten. "Nolan James is a guitar ace who plays with a heart of a rocker and the soul of a classical artist. Audiences are immediately mesmerized by his quick hands and delicate touch. The room gets quiet. Eyes are focused on the stage where his infectious style of plucking and tapping is like a fusion of a harp and an Irish bodhran. Lucky day if you catch him at this daring stage of his career." -Carl Franzen
